Great Mexican food and wonderful service We had lunch after a big hike; cold beers with plenty of fresh lime slices followed by several dishes. I highly recommend La Barquita. An undiscovered gem, Excellent Jaliscan food Plain exterior, but cozy inside. I had the goat (cabrito) burrito, enchilada style which comes with truly excellent smoky refried beans and rice. Wife had the carnitas combo (huge) with a flauta on the side to take home. Truly good service from Ericka, our server. Good selection of basic mexican & american beer. No draft and too full for dessert....
This is my 2nd time in only because first time I came in I was unable to use my restaurant.com certificate. FYI if you have one you have to have it printed....

Serendipity at it's best My wife and I wanted lunch before flying out of Phoenix and decided on a mexican restaurant near 24th St. and McDowell Rd., just north ot the airport. I hadn't been to the restaurant since I retired 10 years ago, so I wasn't surprised that a "new" restaurant, La Barquita, had opened in the same building just after I retired....
Food 5 stars. If you don't care much for service food is good and portions are generous. Another con is that they have a restaurant.com coupon but they do...
The malcajetes might be the most delicious thing on our planet! The wait staff are terribly slow. DO NOT go there after dark, and DO NOT take little kids.
