Twas the night before our Yelp review and I double checked my phone to make sure my invite was downloaded and my Waze map was reviewed and I had from work about a 30 minute commute. On the day of I arrived and the only woman of color to enter the room - and that was ok because I belonged in the room. This is a good restaurant. It has the potential to be so much better. The staff is lacking in social graves. That is there was no greeting, no my name is, no welcome to Mesa Latin Kitchen or anything of the sort. Just straight hi, what can I get you to drink? My wife had many questions and requests for removal of cilantro and any other spicy items, yet her dinner came with spicy potatoes which should have prompted a caution from the server. Nope. We really enjoyed the overall flavors of this restaurant! They have their own twist on Latin foods, which make this very unique. Peruvian chicken wings, chicken chile relleno, carnitas Mexican pizza, & birria tacos are spectacular!
Been here a few times. The specials are good and a lot of the menu is gluten free. Had a Tlayuda for the second time. It's kind of like a pizza made with a corn crust and no sauce so it's kind of dry. We also had some tacos one being the shrimp corn taco that was very tasty. We finished off with the gluten free Horchata Tres Leches cake, I would go back just for that, so good.
Justin was my waiter and he was very attentive. I got the beef enchiladas Christmas style (half red sauce and half green sauce) with black beans and rice. They were having app and lunch specials but I had my mind set on enchiladas.
