I would give this place 10 stars if I could. We are staying at the Moxy so it was a quick walk to the restaurant. I have been on a low carb diet for 10 months so pasta is not something I eat very often. When I do, I want it to be amazing. While researching dinner options in the area, I saw that they make their pasta and sauce from scratch so I knew this is where I wanted to go. Bavaro’s Pizza Napoletana & Pastaria has a lot to offer at somewhat reasonable prices. The crust, which is crafted in a manner that allows Gluten Free intolerant (not Celiac) to consume a traditional pizza. The pizza suffered a little from too much grease, but was otherwise tasty. The bolognese pasta dish was very nice and plentiful in terms of the portion. The table bread was very fresh and tasty. Overall, a nice spot for a pizza or pasta dish in the afternoon.
The worst receptionist and waitress I have ever seen. They forgot to bring my pizza. When I complained that it was cold, they reheated it—and burned it. My children waited so long that they actually ate the burnt pizza. They didn't apologize. They didn't care. I don't recommend Bavaro to anyone. Don't go there. Eat at the German place next door instead; they have excellent food and service.
The cannolis were a perfectly bad ending to an overall disappointing meal. From the caesar salad to the ravioli to the pasta with vodka to the wings, every course of the meal failed. Such a shame. We won’t eat here again.
Excellent Italian restaurant with authentic pizza and pasta that truly stand out. The ingredients tasted fresh, and both the pizza and pasta were flavorful and well prepared. The ambience is warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed meal, whether you’re dining with family, friends, or on a date night. The combination of great food and a pleasant atmosphere made for a wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend Bavaro to anyone looking for authentic Italian food in St. Petersburg.
