OMG this place is SO GOOD! I've already been here twice in just three days, that's how obsessed I am. The owners are Japanese and really friendly, and the restaurant is small but bright, clean, and very comfy. I love that it's not dark inside because I like to actually see what I'm eating. You can make reservations on Google, which is great because it gets busy fast. The space isn't big, so definitely book ahead if you don't want to wait. I ordered the Uni & Ikura Don, and it was fantastic. The sweet, plentiful salmon roe paired perfectly with the fresh sea urchin—such a treat! My husband had the Yakiniku Onigirazu, a soy–sesame marinated beef and lettuce rice sandwich. It was huge, and he said it tasted great. We’ll definitely be back!
Nice neighbourhood Japanese restaurant. Fresh ingredients, the drinks menu is small but unique and different from the usual brands. Owners are friendly and dedicated. Has really nice coffee too!
We came here to celebrate the husband’s birthday. The music was fun and the staff very friendly and attentive. The food was amazing both visually pleasing and appetizing. This is a lovely little local place. We are sure to return
My husband and I have been looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant in North Phoenix, and we’re so happy we found Akamaru. The staff is friendly and food is soooo good and fresh. Also highly recommend their hojicha and matcha latte too! We will definitely be back!
